Real-Time Iteration

If you have used legacy reporting tools, you are likely used to a slow, frustrating workflow: add a metric, click “Run,” wait 60 seconds, realize you made a mistake, fix it, and wait another 60 seconds.

Because Metric Might executes queries directly from your front-end, we eliminated the queue. This architectural advantage allows for a feature that fundamentally changes how you build reports: Real-Time Iteration.

The “Apply on change” Feature

For supported data sources, you will see an Apply on change checkbox located at the bottom left of your query builder sidebar (right next to the main Apply button).

When this box is checked, Metric Might enters real-time mode. You no longer need to click the Apply button.

Every time you add a metric, remove a dimension, adjust a date range, or tweak a filter, Metric Might instantly re-runs the query in the background and populates the embedded Google Sheet on the left side of your screen.

💡 Why isn't this available for every data source? Metric Might enables "Apply on change" for ad platform APIs that are fast enough to support real-time feedback. For platforms with inherently slow APIs or strict rate limits, this feature is disabled to protect your account from being temporarily blocked by the ad network.

Supported data sources: Google Ads, Google Analytics 4, Meta (Facebook) Ads, and LinkedIn Ads.

The Iteration Workflow in Action

To understand the power of this feature, try building a report using the real-time workflow. Check the Apply on change box, and then follow these steps:

  1. Start Broad: Select Last 30 Days and add the Spend metric.
  • Instantly, your Sheet shows a single total with your total monthly spend.
  1. Break it down: Open the Dimensions dropdown and select Date.
  • Without clicking anything else, your Sheet immediately expands into a 30-row daily spend ledger.
  1. Add Granularity: Select Campaign Name as a second Row Dimension.
  • The Sheet instantly updates to show daily spend, broken out by individual campaigns.
  1. Filter the Noise: Scroll down to Filters and add: Spend > 0.
  • Watch the embedded Sheet instantly shrink as all the paused and empty campaigns disappear from your report.

Live Pivoting (Drag and Drop)

Because Metric Might supports Drag-and-Drop in the sidebar, you can pivot your data visually.

If your report is getting too long vertically, simply click and drag the Date dimension out of the Row Dimensions box and drop it into the Column Dimensions box.

Because Apply on change is active, you will watch your spreadsheet instantly reformat itself—listing your campaigns down the left side, with a column for every day stretching across the top.

Why this changes how you work

By removing the penalty of waiting, you no longer need to perfectly plan out a complex query in your head before building it.

You can safely “play” with your data. If you add a metric and the resulting spreadsheet format looks confusing, just click the X to remove the metric and watch the Sheet revert instantly. It makes building complex, multi-dimensional marketing reports faster, safer, and infinitely less frustrating.
