Using the Sheets Extension

Metric Might’s query builder lives in the Web App, but most of your day is spent inside Google Sheets. The Metric Might Sheets Extension is a lightweight companion that lets you trigger data refreshes with a single click — without leaving your spreadsheet.

Installing the Extension

Install it directly from the Google Workspace Marketplace. Once installed, open any Google Sheet and go to Extensions > Metric Might > Launch Sidebar.

⚠️ First-time permission popups:

If you registered your Metric Might account on the Web App before installing the extension, Google will show three sequential permission popups the first time you launch the sidebar. This is expected — it is Google's progressive permission system requesting one scope at a time. Click Allow on each to complete setup.

If you install the extension before registering, all permissions are requested in a single popup instead.

If you have not yet registered for a Metric Might account, the sidebar will show an onboarding screen directing you to the Web App to complete setup first.

Using the Sidebar

Once launched, the sidebar displays your Metric Might queries for the current spreadsheet.

💡 Only shows queries for the current spreadsheet. The sidebar filters automatically — if you open the extension in a different spreadsheet, you will only see queries configured to output to that file.

Run Query — click the button on any individual card to refresh that specific report immediately.

Run All Queries — the dark button at the top refreshes every query in the current spreadsheet sequentially. Useful for updating a full client dashboard in one go.

Edit Query — click the edit icon on any card to open the Metric Might Web App directly to that query’s configuration page.

Open Dashboard & Builder — the button at the bottom takes you to the main Web App at any time.

The Runner Status Indicator

At the bottom of the sidebar you will see a small status dot and label. This shows how your queries are being executed:

🟢 Runner connected — the extension is communicating directly with the Metric Might Web App via a secure hidden connection. Queries execute at the same speed as the Web App.

🟡 Running via server — if that connection cannot be established (due to strict browser privacy settings or network restrictions), Metric Might automatically falls back to running queries via our AWS Lambda backend. Queries still complete reliably, just slightly slower.

You do not need to do anything when you see either status — both paths work correctly.
