Connecting TikTok Ads

Pulling your TikTok Ads data into Google Sheets takes just a few clicks. Because Metric Might connects directly to the TikTok Marketing API, you can pull live Spend, Video Views, and Conversion data across all your client accounts instantly.

1. Prerequisites (Required Permissions)

Before you can pull data, you must have the correct permissions inside your TikTok For Business account.

  • You must have at least Operator or Analyst access to the specific TikTok Ad Account(s) you wish to query.
  • If you manage multiple clients, ensure your TikTok For Business login has been granted access to their respective ad accounts or the overarching TikTok Business Center before authenticating in Metric Might.

2. How to Connect

You can connect your TikTok Ads account without leaving the query builder.

  1. Open the Metric Might Web App and navigate to the Queries page.
  2. Under the Data source section, click the dropdown and select Add Data Source.
  3. Choose TikTok Ads.
  4. A secure popup will ask you to log into TikTok For Business. Review the permissions and click Confirm.
⚠️ Popup blocked? If nothing appears when you click to connect, your browser may be blocking the authentication popup. Allow popups for app.metricmight.com and try again.
💡 Agency Tip: When you authenticate your TikTok account, Metric Might will automatically detect and unlock access to all of the ad accounts your login is attached to — including those managed via a Business Center. You do not need to authenticate every client individually.

3. Available Metrics & Dimensions

Metric Might dynamically fetches the most up-to-date metrics and dimensions directly from the TikTok API, so you always have access to the latest video and conversion fields.

When building your query, click into the Metrics or Dimensions dropdowns to open the search overlay. You can search for standard fields like Spend, Impressions, and Clicks, as well as highly specific TikTok engagement metrics like 2-Second Video Views, 6-Second Video Views, and Video Views at 100%.

Metric Might’s live compatibility matrix will automatically disable any fields that cannot be queried alongside your current selection.

4. Token Expiry

TikTok access tokens typically expire every 180 days, or immediately if you change your TikTok For Business password or alter your security settings.

You can see the expiry date of your TikTok connection at any time on the Connections page — it is displayed directly on the data source card. This lets you re-authenticate proactively before a scheduled refresh breaks.

If a TikTok query stops working unexpectedly with an authentication error, go to the Connections page, click the three-dot menu () next to the TikTok Ads data source, and select Sign In Again.

5. TikTok-Specific Quirks & Gotchas

Every ad platform’s API has unique behaviours. If your TikTok data looks slightly different from what you expect, it is almost always due to one of the following.

Timezones

When a TikTok Ad Account is created, a timezone is locked in and cannot be changed. Metric Might automatically uses each ad account’s native timezone when calculating relative date ranges like Yesterday or Last 7 Days, so your data will always align correctly with the account’s own reporting without any manual configuration.

Delayed Conversion Syncs

TikTok’s pixel and server-to-server (Events API) tracking can experience processing delays. While Spend, Impressions, and Clicks are usually available within 15–30 minutes, Conversions and Cost per Action (CPA) can take several hours to fully settle. Always allow a few hours before treating today’s conversion data as final.

Lifetime Video Engagement Metrics

Some video engagement metrics in the TikTok API — such as certain view-through rates — are calculated on a lifetime basis rather than broken down by day. If you add one of these metrics alongside a Date dimension and notice the numbers look identical across every row, this is why. These metrics are best queried at the campaign or ad account level without a daily date breakdown.
